The International Mahler Orchestra would like to thank Mr. Zvi Meitar and the Meitar Family Fund for their loyal and generous support throughout the years, without which the IMO would have never become what it is now. From 2010 until 2014 concerts with great orchestras and famous conductors were hosted by the Mahler Festival in Toblach: Deutsche Symphonie Orchesters Berlin (conductor: Ingo Metzmacher), Israel Chamber Orchestra (conductor: Roberto Paternostro), Bamberger Symphoniker (Conductor: Jonathan Nott) and in cooperation with the Festspiele Südtirol the concerts with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig (conductor: Riccardo Chailly), and with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (Conductor: Daniele Gatti). In this context we developed the idea of organizing a workshop for young composers in the spirit of Gustav Mahler and Hans Werner Henze to take place in Toblach/Dobbiaco. Our foremost purpose is to add a further, contemporary dimension to the curation of the cultural remembrance of Gustav Mahler in Toblach/Dobbiaco.
